The Chair of Management Accounting led by Prof. Gunther Friedl is committed to novel and relevant research, and
excellent teaching. Our research topics comprise value-based management & performance tests, incentive & compensation
systems of company leaders as well as accounting in regulated markets. Besides of that, the chair is
involved in the research of the Center for Energy Markets.


You have an outstanding degree in business administration, economics, business informatics, business engineering,
informatics, mathematics, or related subjects and are curious to dive deep into the topic management accounting.
Knowledge in these fields and in empirical research is welcome, but not required. Most importantly, we are
looking for an enthusiastic, self-motivated team player who loves to do research, has the ambition to publish in
leading international journals, and ideally aspires to an academic career.


Your tasks include finding a topic, data collection, data analysis, writing and publishing articles, and presenting
your research at international conferences. You will also be involved in teaching tutorials, mentoring students in
their final thesis, supporting lectures, and in establishing and maintaining links to industry. Prof. Friedl will advise
you in your research and will provide intensive mentoring for an academic career if desired. You will receive methods
and theory training through the School’s Graduate Center (
