Ph.D. Student / Research Assistant
The Chair of Logistics Management (Prof. Dr. Stephan M. Wagner) at ETH Zurich’s Department of Management, Technology, and Economics invites applications for a position as Ph.D. Student / Research Assistant
We are looking for candidates who will take the responsibility for creating and disseminating new knowledge in supply chain management. Our research topics range from supply chain strategy, purchasing and supply management, and interfirm relationships (with customers, suppliers and logistics service providers) to innovation, entrepreneurship, digitalization, and sustainability in a supply chain context. We encourage industry collaboration to help bridge between theory and practice.
We seek candidates with a strong interest in empirical research.
The candidates will be responsible for their own doctoral research, provide support for research projects, supervise student assignments, and assist in teaching. They are also expected to participate in corporate outreach programs offered and supported by the Chair of Logistics Management. Candidates should have a strong interest and capability in writing research-oriented papers for scholarly journals, academic proceedings, and practitioner journals.
We provide Ph.D. students with an optimal working environment and strong guidance throughout the doctoral project. We offer the possibility to collaborate with research institutes and universities abroad, and to present research results at international conferences.
We expect an excellent master’s degree in Management, Industrial Engineering (WiIng.) or related fields, high proficiency in English, strong team spirit, social skills, independence and a high level of motivation for academic research work. A strong background in empirical research methods, statistics or econometric analysis and experience in consulting or industry are also a plus.
The starting date for the position is negotiable. The tenure will typically span three to four years, including doctoral coursework.
